"I was thirsty and you gave me drink..." (Matthew 25:35)
Five days a week, 52 weeks a year, volunteers at the St. Vincent de Paul’s dining room serve up a hot, home-cooked meal to hungry, homeless guests (currently an average of 60 guests daily). For the daily, noon-time crowd of mostly men who gather off Vernon Street in Roseville, this may well be their only hot meal of the day. In summer, it’s a nice break from the heat, and in the winter it is a welcome escape from the cold and damp.
Our volunteer groups and individuals, some of whom have been volunteering for years, faithfully create and serve balanced meals to hundreds of clients each week. The connection between our volunteers and clients create a sense of community so vitally needed by those who come to us.
Through the serving of others, we work through our mission and collaborate with other organizations to provide basic nutritional needs to the homeless in our community.
