The Diocese of Sacramento requires all staff and adult volunteers (including religious educators, youth ministry coordinators, youth ministry contact persons, catechists and aides) who work with young people (18 years of age or younger) to complete the Safe Haven -Safe Environment Training and obtain a criminal record summary (background check) for convictions of sex, drugs /narcotics, and violent crimes through LiveScan for staff and volunteers age 18 and over.
All diocesan employees, and all volunteers who work with children, are required to complete a child abuse prevention and diocesan policy training program once every three years. Our on-line training program, Safe Haven, is a 3 part video series offered through Catholic Mutual Group. This training is available in both English and Spanish.
